Sri Lanka Police have announced special traffic restrictions along Ananda Coomaraswamy Mawatha, also known as Green Path, in Colombo, from tonight (21) until October 25 due to the Sri Lanka Skills Expo 2026.
According to Police, the exhibition will be held at the Green Path premises from 10.00 p.m. on October 21 until 10.00 p.m. on October 25.
Under the traffic plan, the outbound lane from the Public Library Roundabout to the Horton Place Roundabout, running along the Viharamahadevi Park side of Green Path, will be completely closed throughout this period.
Police warned that the closure could affect traffic travelling towards several major schools, including Ladies’ College, Thurstan College and Royal College. It may also cause congestion for vehicles leaving Colombo during weekday evening peak hours.
Alternative Routes
Motorists travelling from the Public Library Roundabout towards the Horton Place Roundabout can use Marcus Fernando Mawatha, passing Glass House and Nanda Motors.
Vehicles travelling along Dharmapala Mawatha towards the Red Cross Roundabout and intending to enter Ananda Coomaraswamy Mawatha may be diverted via F.R. Senanayake Mawatha and C.W.W. Kannangara Mawatha towards the Horton Place Roundabout, depending on traffic conditions.
Police also warned that increased traffic along Marcus Fernando Mawatha could cause congestion on Independence Avenue, near the Horton Place Roundabout and along Kannangara Mawatha towards the Soysa Roundabout.
Motorists have been advised to avoid the affected roads where possible, use alternative routes and follow instructions from traffic Police officers to minimise congestion during the exhibition period.
