The recent American and Chinese crises forced the closure of two clothing manufacturers that only exported their goods to the American market. Due to this, almost 2500 people who were employed lost their employment. The machinery in these facilities, which are situated in the Koggala Investment Processing Zone, is worth hundreds of millions of dollars in US currency.

Aitken Spence, a pioneering firm in this nation, has partnered with the Sri Lanka Board of Investment to re-establish these two plants. As a result, preparations were initiated to have Ace Apparels run these two factories again. In the first phase, the corporation will invest more than US$3.6 million in this.
