A sizable development project comparable to the Mahaweli development project has been envisioned by President Ranil Wickremesinghe for the Eastern Province.
In his remarks at a special Committee meeting, the President compared the expedited completion of the Eastern Development Project to the 1980s’ successful implementation of the Mahaweli Development Project.
The President accordingly directed authorities to give him a thorough report that included land allocations for the years 2019 to 2023.
Land, according to President Wickremesinghe, is a crucial component of the development trajectory. He emphasised the significance of careful management in achieving targeted developmental goals.
