The Department of Meteorology predicts showers in several regions of Sri Lanka today. Expect multiple spells of showers in the Eastern and Uva provinces, as well as in Polonnaruwa, Matale, and Nuwara-Eliya districts. Northern province and Anuradhapura district may experience a few showers. After 2.00 p.m., showers or thundershowers are likely in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as Galle and Matara districts.
Fairly strong winds of 30-40 kmph are expected intermittently in the eastern slopes of the central hills and various provinces including Northern, North-Central, Southern, North-western, Uva, and Eastern provinces. Misty conditions are anticipated during the morning in certain areas of Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as Galle and Matara districts.
Additionally, showers are forecasted in sea areas extending from Trincomalee to Hambantota via Batticaloa, with the possibility of thundershowers in sea areas from Colombo to Matara via Galle in the evening or night. Winds will be north-easterly at 30-40 kmph, increasing up to 55-60 kmph at times in sea areas off the coasts extending from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota, and from Colombo to Kankasanthurai via Puttalam.
Rough sea conditions are expected off the coasts from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota and from Colombo to Kankasanthurai via Puttalam, while other sea areas around the island will be moderate.
