Sri Lanka Police has warned that strict legal action will be taken against landlords who provide accommodation to foreign nationals who have overstayed their visas or violated immigration laws.
The warning follows a series of raids conducted in suburbs of Colombo, which led to the arrest of nearly 157 foreign nationals suspected of involvement in cyber scam operations.
Police stated that property owners who knowingly—or through negligence—allow such individuals to stay in their premises will face legal consequences under existing regulations.
During the operations, authorities seized computers, mobile phones, and other equipment believed to have been used in the alleged cyber fraud activities.
Further investigations are underway to identify others linked to the network, including individuals who may have facilitated accommodation for the suspects.
