Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa appeared before the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) today (12) to provide a statement in connection with an ongoing investigation.
The inquiry relates to an alleged bribe of USD 2 million linked to the 2013 procurement of Airbus aircraft by SriLankan Airlines.
Rajapaksa reported to the Commission after being summoned to appear before investigators.
In a related development, former Aviation Services Minister Priyankara Jayaratne has also been summoned by CIABOC to provide a statement regarding the same incident.
