A total of 5,289 Tri-Service personnel have been promoted to their next respective ranks in line with the 17th National War Heroes’ Commemoration Day, which falls on May 19.
According to the government, the promotions were granted in recognition of the personnel’s dedicated service to the nation.
National War Heroes’ Commemoration Day is observed annually to honour members of Sri Lanka’s Tri Forces and acknowledge their contribution toward restoring peace and protecting the country’s sovereignty.
Authorities stated that the promotions were approved based on recommendations submitted by the respective Service Commanders and in accordance with established administrative procedures of the Tri Forces.
The promotions coincide with this year’s commemoration marking 17 years since the end of the armed conflict in Sri Lanka.
