Tata Electronics and Dutch technology giant ASML have signed an agreement to support the development of a major semiconductor plant in western India during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the Netherlands.

The deal will assist in establishing Tata’s semiconductor facility in Dholera, located in Modi’s home state of Gujarat.

Modi said discussions with Dutch Prime Minister focused not only on technology and trade, but also on expanding cooperation in defence and security.

Following his Netherlands visit, Modi is scheduled to travel to Sweden for talks with Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson. Discussions are expected to centre on trade, innovation and green technology cooperation.

The visit marks Modi’s second trip to Sweden since attending the first India-Nordic summit in 2018.
