FFSL Renews Abdullah Almutairi’s Contract Under New ‘The Next Chapter’ Strategy

The Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) has officially renewed the contract of National Team Head Coach Abdullah Almutairi, entrusting him with leading the national side under the Federation’s newly introduced strategic initiative, “The Next Chapter.”

FFSL President Jaswar Umar announced the decision after holding discussions with Almutairi regarding the future direction and goals of Sri Lanka Football. He commended the coach’s professionalism, dedication, and achievements during his previous tenure, highlighting the national team’s rise in the FIFA rankings from 205th to 187th place, along with several notable international victories.

According to Umar, the Federation was pleased with the successful achievement of key performance targets and was confident in offering Almutairi a second contract, citing his leadership qualities and technical expertise.

Under the renewed agreement, Abdullah Almutairi will guide the national team’s preparations for upcoming international competitions while implementing the FFSL’s latest technical and competitive objectives.

The Federation said Almutairi will play a key role in its long-term vision to strengthen the foundations of Sri Lanka Football, improve competitiveness, and increase the country’s profile on both regional and international stages.

FFSL noted that the contract extension represents another significant step in “The Next Chapter” program, which aims to deliver sustainable development and long-term success for the national football team.
