The Department of Meteorology has forecast showers and thundershowers in several parts of the country today, with wet weather expected to continue in multiple provinces.
According to the forecast, showers or thundershowers will occur at intervals in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces, as well as in the districts of Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya.
Meanwhile, a few places in the Uva and Eastern provinces may experience showers or thundershowers after 2.00 p.m.
Fairly strong winds with speeds of 30 to 40 kmph are also expected at times over the western slopes of the central hills, and in the Northern, North-Central, North-Western and Southern provinces, as well as the Trincomalee District.
The public has been advised to take necessary precautions to reduce the risk of damage from localized strong winds and lightning associated with thundershowers.
