Revised Bus Fares Take Effect Today Across Sri Lanka

The annual revision of bus fares comes into effect across Sri Lanka today (July 6), following approval by the National Transport Commission (NTC), with fare increases ranging between 12% and 20%.

Under the revised fare structure, the minimum fare for ordinary bus services has increased from Rs. 30 to Rs. 34, while the maximum fare has risen from Rs. 2,422 to Rs. 2,902.

Passengers travelling on semi-luxury buses will now pay a minimum fare of Rs. 51, up from Rs. 44, while the maximum fare has increased from Rs. 3,330 to Rs. 4,353.

For luxury bus services, the minimum fare has been revised from Rs. 60 to Rs. 66, with the maximum fare increasing from Rs. 4,405 to Rs. 5,571.

The NTC has also revised fares on several major inter-provincial routes. Under the new rates, the fare from Colombo to Kandy is Rs. 521, Colombo to Matara is Rs. 681, and Colombo to Galle is Rs. 496.
