US President Donald Trump has said that Washington is engaged in “very friendly talks” with Iran, but indicated that the United States is not prepared to enter into prolonged negotiations, as tensions in the Middle East continue.
Meanwhile, Iranian officials have claimed that the US is struggling to find a way out of the ongoing conflict, amid continued diplomatic efforts to ease regional instability.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived in Washington, DC, and is expected to hold talks with President Trump, with the conflict involving Iran likely to dominate discussions between the two leaders.
In a separate development, Saudi Arabia strongly condemned a drone attack launched by Iran-backed groups in Iraq that targeted the capital, Riyadh, as well as oil facilities in the country’s Eastern Province.
At the same time, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk stated that his office has documented alleged violations of international law by Israel in Lebanon, some of which could amount to war crimes.
