Sri Lanka’s Palitha Bandara secured the country’s first medal at the 2026 Commonwealth Games after claiming silver in the men’s discus throw F42-44/F61-64 para athletics final.
Bandara produced an impressive performance to finish second, opening Sri Lanka’s medal tally at this year’s Games.
The achievement marks his second consecutive Commonwealth Games silver medal in the event, having also won silver at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
