The National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) has issued landslide warnings for several areas in the Kandy, Kegalle, Nuwara Eliya and Ratnapura districts, effective from 9.00 a.m. today (03) until 9.00 a.m. tomorrow (04).
A Level 3 (Red) “Evacuate” warning has been issued for the Pasbage Korale and Ganga Ihala Korale Divisional Secretariat divisions in the Kandy District, with residents urged to move to safer locations if instructed by authorities.
A Level 2 (Amber) “Be Alert” warning is in effect for Ududumbara and Udapalatha in Kandy District; Yatiyantota and Aranayake in Kegalle District; Ambagamuwa, Norwood, Nuwara Eliya, Kotmale East and Kotmale West in Nuwara Eliya District; and Opanayake, Imbulpe and Ratnapura in Ratnapura District.
Meanwhile, a Level 1 (Yellow) “Be Aware” warning has been issued for Panvila and Medadumbara in Kandy District, Deraniyagala and Dehiowita in Kegalle District, and Nivithigala and Kuruwita in Ratnapura District.
The NBRO has advised residents in all affected areas to remain vigilant, monitor weather conditions closely, and follow the instructions of local authorities, especially in locations experiencing continuous heavy rainfall.
