More than 21,500 Palestinian children have been killed and 1,244 of Gaza’s 1,275 mosques have been targeted since Israel launched its war on the enclave in October 2023, according to Gaza’s Government Media Office.

The office said Israeli forces had systematically targeted civilians, residential areas and places of worship during the conflict, with 1,077 mosques completely destroyed.

It condemned the continued attacks on civilians, children and religious sites, and called on international mediators to pressure Israel to stop ceasefire violations and fully implement the ceasefire agreement.

The statement came amid renewed threats from Israeli leaders to intensify military operations in Gaza.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Israel Katz on Sunday threatened to increase targeted killings and evacuate residential areas following reports of kites reaching Israeli territory from Gaza.

The warning came despite the Israeli military saying on Saturday that four kites recovered near Gaza contained no suspicious materials and posed no threat to the public.

According to Gaza authorities, more than 73,000 Palestinians have been killed and over 174,000 injured in Israel’s military campaign since October 2023.
