A 34-year-old businessman from Maradana has been arrested for allegedly transferring USD 80 million, equivalent to approximately Rs. 23 billion, to overseas accounts under the pretext of importing goods, police said.

The suspect was arrested by officers of the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) in Maradana in connection with transactions allegedly carried out between 2023 and 2025.

According to police, the businessman is suspected of transferring the funds to foreign countries through telegraphic transfers (T/T), claiming that the payments were made for the importation of goods.

The FCID has launched further investigations into the transactions and the circumstances surrounding the large-scale transfers.
