The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has pledged to support the further development of football in Sri Lanka, including possible assistance for the construction of a football ground and the provision of equipment for players.
FIFA Regional Director for Asia and Oceania Sanjeevan Balasingam made the assurance during a meeting with Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Sunil Kumara Gamage yesterday (24).
According to the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, discussions focused on areas where FIFA could assist Sri Lanka in developing football and strengthening the sport’s infrastructure.
Balasingam assured the Minister that FIFA would provide support for initiatives aimed at advancing football in the country.
The possibility of constructing a football ground with FIFA assistance was also discussed, along with the provision of essential equipment for football players.
The meeting was held at the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
