Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said Türkiye is playing an increasingly active role in resolving international conflicts while maintaining domestic stability amid wars and crises in neighbouring regions.

According to Anadolu Agency, Erdogan made the remarks in a video message marking the 103rd anniversary of the founding of the Turkish Republic on Thursday (October 29).

“At a difficult time marked by wars, conflicts and crises in our immediate neighbourhood and various parts of the world, we are not only maintaining our stability but also assuming responsibility for resolving conflicts,” he said.

Erdogan pledged to continue Türkiye’s efforts to promote peace and justice, reiterating the principle of “Peace in the world, peace in the region, peace at home.”

He also highlighted Türkiye’s progress over the past 24 years under the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), citing developments in defence technology, energy security, transportation infrastructure and industrial production.

The president said the country had strengthened its capacity to develop domestic technologies, expand defence capabilities and modernise infrastructure, helping it pursue a more influential role on the international stage.

Reflecting on the establishment of the republic, Erdogan described it as a symbol of the Turkish people’s independence and determination to shape their own future.

He also paid tribute to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Turkish Republic and leader of the Turkish War of Independence, saying the struggle demonstrated the achievements possible through national unity and solidarity in challenging circumstances.

Türkiye celebrates Republic Day on October 29 each year, commemorating Atatürk’s proclamation of the republic in 1923.
