The advisory further warns against using wired telephones and electrical appliances connected to power outlets during thunderstorms. People are also advised to avoid open vehicles, including bicycles, tractors and boats.
The Department has urged the public to remain vigilant for fallen trees and power lines and to contact local disaster management authorities in the event of an emergency.
