Afghanistan is experiencing the harshest winter in years

At least 124 people have died in freezing temperatures in Afghanistan in the past two weeks, Taliban officials say.

Around 70,000 livestock died in the coldest winter in ten years, said a spokesman for the State Ministry for Disaster Control.

Many aid organizations have suspended their work in recent weeks after the Taliban banned Afghan women from working for non-governmental organizations.

A Taliban minister said the edict would not be changed despite the deaths.
