The Omani investor who owns a clothing business in Katana and was beaten up by an unnamed gang of people in March has opted to stay in Sri Lanka.

The promise was offered yesterday (09), during a conversation between the Omani investor and Minister of Public Security Tiran Alles.

The manager of the plant took part in the conversation that took place on the ministry’s grounds, according to the Ministry of Public Security.

The Public Security Ministry would safeguard the safety of the Omani Investor, Minister Alles had told him, and President Ranil Wickremesinghe had issued the required instructions in this respect.

The Omani investor notified Minister Alles that he was pleased with the outcome and that, as a result of the conversation, he had chosen not to shut down the factory’s operations or depart Sri Lanka.

However, the Omani Investor continued, a choice regarding whether to keep running the business in Katana or somewhere else would be made after consultation with his family.

In the meantime, State Minister Indika Anuruddha responded to inquiries made in Parliament on the suspected involvement of the Omani Investor’s Secretary and many other individuals in the attack.

State Minister Anuruddha said that the charges surrounding the event were part of a smear campaign against him that was politically motivated in response to the questions raised in parliament today (10).
