According to a fresh weather bulletin from the Meteorology Department, the deep depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal has strengthened into the cyclonic storm “Mocha” and is now situated between 11.2°N and 88.1°E.
By midnight today, this cyclonic storm is highly likely to continue in a north-northwesterly direction and progressively strengthen into a severe cyclonic storm.
Then, beginning on Friday, May 12, it is anticipated to gradually recurve, travel north-northeastward, and develop more before becoming a very severe cyclonic storm over the central Bay of Bengal on Friday night.
From Sunday morning (May 14), the system is predicted to weaken somewhat before passing around the shores of northwestern Myanmar and southeast Bangladesh in the afternoon of that day.
In the next 24 hours, this system will cause wind speeds to range from (50-60) kmph and may even reach 70-80 kmph in sea regions between 03N and 20N and 85E and 100E.
In the meantime, the aforementioned marine locations can also anticipate very strong waves and heavy rains or thundershowers.
