Premitha Bandara Tennakoon, the state minister of defence, stated that Sri Lanka has a zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and that any acts that enable terrorist activities will be dealt with harshly.

During his visit to Turkey, Minister Tennakoon spoke these words to Yaser Guler, the Turkish defence minister.

The Sri Lankan government, particularly the intelligence services and the security forces, were held in high regard by the Turkish Minister of Defence for their assistance in eradicating components of the Fetullah Terrorist Organisation (FETO), which is commanded by Fetullah Gulen, from the island.

During the meeting, State Minister Tennakoon and Minister Guler held good conversations about strengthening already-existing ties between the two nations and enhancing prospective bilateral aid on numerous platforms.

While attending the International Defence Exhibition, State Minister Tennakoon had a side meeting with his Turkish colleague.

The meeting also included the ambassador of Sri Lanka to Turkey, the deputy chief of staff of the navy, and representatives from the Turkish defence sector.
