Uma Oya Project to Add 120 MW to National Grid in February

The Uma Oya project is set to contribute 120 MW of electricity to Sri Lanka’s national grid by February 15, as announced by State Minister of Irrigation, Shasheendra Rajapaksa.

This significant addition aligns with the country’s efforts to enhance energy security. The state minister also outlined plans for floating solar power plants utilizing 31 reservoirs, potentially generating an extra 3077 MW.

This innovative approach aims to address growing energy needs. Additionally, substantial budget allocations emphasize the government’s commitment to food security and sustainable agriculture, showcasing a promising future for Sri Lanka’s energy and agricultural sectors.
