Sri Lanka has welcomed the adoption by the United Nations General Assembly of the resolution endorsing the New York Declaration on the peaceful settlement of the Question of Palestine and the implementation of the two-State solution.
In a statement by Sri Lanka Foreign Ministry, Sri Lanka extended its appreciation to Saudi Arabia and France for their leadership in spearheading the initiative, which received broad international backing at the UN.
Reaffirming its longstanding position, Sri Lanka underscored its unwavering support for the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to statehood, in line with the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and relevant UN resolutions.
Officials emphasized that the resolution marks an important step toward achieving lasting peace in the Middle East through dialogue, diplomacy, and recognition of the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people.
