Several spells of showers are expected in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts, according to the Department of Meteorology.
A few showers are also likely in the North Western Province.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers may occur in a few places in the Ampara, Monaragala and Batticaloa districts after 2.00 p.m.
Mainly dry weather is expected to prevail elsewhere across the island.
Fairly strong winds of around 30–40 kmph may occur at times over the western slopes of the Central Hills, the North Central and North Western provinces, and in the Mannar, Trincomalee, Hambantota and Matale districts.
The public is advised to take adequate precautions to minimize possible damage from temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
