The protest that union members plan to hold this afternoon has been called into question by the Colombo Fort Magistrate.
After considering a request from the OIC of Colombo Fort Police, the order was given.
As a result, protesters are forbidden from marching toward the President’s House, the Finance Ministry, and the Presidential Secretariat through a number of Colombo streets, including Olcott Mawatha, Lotus Road, York Street, Bank of Ceylon Mawatha, Sir Baron Jayathilake Mawatha, Baladaksha Mawatha, Chaithya Road, Janadhipathi Mawatha, and a portion of Galle Road from the (April 04).
Additionally, the magistrate has ordered the protesters to refrain from entering the aforementioned locations, causing harm to public property, and interfering with the performance of official tasks.
The respondents in this court ruling are Wasantha Mudalige, the convener of the Inter-University Students’ Federation (IUSF), Ravi Kumudesh, the president of the Health Professionals Association, and a number of other trade unionists.
In the event that the protesters behave illegally, the police have been told to take the appropriate legal action.
