Former Chief Executive Officer of SriLankan Airlines, Kapila Chandrasena, was found dead at a residence in Colpetty today (08), according to police.

Police Media Spokesman F. U. Wootler stated that the death is suspected to be a suicide. Investigations are currently being carried out by the Colpetty Police.

Chandrasena had recently been in remand custody in connection with the Airbus deal involving SriLankan Airlines and was later released on bail.

However, court proceedings yesterday saw the Bribery Commission seeking the cancellation of his bail. The commission had filed a motion before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court requesting that the previously granted bail be revoked, and he had been ordered to be arrested and produced before court.

Further investigations into the incident are ongoing.
