An Indian pilot reportedly managed to land a Flydubai aircraft safely after a passenger allegedly stormed the cockpit and attacked him during a flight to Dubai.

The incident reportedly occurred aboard Flydubai flight FZ626 at an altitude of around 35,000 feet, when the passenger allegedly entered the cockpit and stabbed Captain Smit Machchhar.

Despite sustaining serious injuries and bleeding heavily, Machchhar is reported to have maintained control of the Boeing 737 MAX 8 and carried out an emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia.

The emergency landing reportedly ensured the safety of all 174 people on board.

Machchhar, a former SpiceJet captain who joined Flydubai in 2022, is being hailed for his actions in maintaining control of the aircraft despite the attack and his injuries.
