U.S. Special Envoy for South and Central Asia Sergio Gor will visit Sri Lanka and Maldives from March 19 to 24 for high-level discussions aimed at strengthening cooperation in the Indian Ocean region.
According to the U.S. Department of State, during his visit to Sri Lanka, the Special Envoy is scheduled to meet senior leaders to reaffirm the importance of bilateral ties and enhance collaboration across key sectors.
The discussions are expected to support U.S. efforts to safeguard critical sea lanes, secure ports, strengthen trade and commercial partnerships, and promote a free, open, and prosperous Indo-Pacific region.
The State Department further noted that the United States values its longstanding partnerships with Sri Lanka and remains committed to regional security and stability.
