The public is advised to take necessary precautions against possible damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Meanwhile, showers are expected at several places in the sea areas off the coast from Negombo to Matara via Colombo and Galle.

South-westerly winds will prevail over the sea, with speeds of 30–40 kmph. Wind speeds may occasionally increase to 50–60 kmph in the sea areas from Mullaitivu to Chilaw via Kankesanthurai and Mannar, and from Hambantota to Pottuvil. Winds may reach up to 50 kmph at times in other sea areas around the island.

The sea areas from Mullaitivu to Chilaw via Kankesanthurai and Mannar, and from Hambantota to Pottuvil, may become rough at times, while other sea areas may be fairly rough.

Wave heights could increase to around 2.0–2.5 metres in the sea areas from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Matara.
